The science, briefly
Why 40 Hz
Gamma is the fastest of the common brainwave bands, and 40 Hz sits in the middle of it. Gamma activity rises during focused attention, active recall and the kind of joined-up thinking where different parts of the brain work in sync.
When the brain receives a steady rhythm, such as a pulsing tone or a flickering light, its activity tends to fall into step with it. This frequency-following response has been measured with EEG since 1965: a clean 40 Hz signal brings more 40 Hz gamma in return.
Much of the modern interest comes from MIT, where 40 Hz light and sound raised gamma activity. Human studies are still early, so treat 40 Hz as a promising practice for focus and clarity, not a treatment. 6th Mind is a wellbeing tool, not a medical device.

Do I need Premium?
Premium is the simplest way: one subscription installs all the packs at once and also unlocks every other paid pack. Each pack is also sold on its own in the Session library, if you'd rather buy one and keep it.
Do I need the app?
Installed packs play here in your browser as audio. The full experience, with light synchronised to the sound, is in the free 6th Mind app for iPhone and Android.
Do I need headphones?
No. Headphones add binaural beats; without them, isochronic tones carry the same rhythm through any speaker, and the light works either way.
Is the 40 Hz light safe?
For most people, yes. The exception is photosensitive epilepsy: if you have a history of seizures, switch the light off and use sound only. Keep the brightness comfortable.
Can I cancel Premium?
